Of the 7,000 patent applications registered each year in Israel, only 1,000 are originated by Israel based companies.  The balance is driven by foreign companies with economic interests in the country.  Given that reality, the office of Dr. Eyal Bressler & Co. focuses on a number of specific technology areas and serves as the local arm to attorneys and patent lawyers worldwide.

 

“The majority of our clients are well-known Israeli companies, part of them publicly traded firms, part of them privately held concerns with dozens of patents, trademarks and designs in their portfolio,” says Dr. Eyal Bressler.  “We are executing a number of legal measures on behalf of our clients including royalty agreements, technology licensing, joint ventures and more.”

The patent process in Israel lasts approximately four years, from initial filing to registration.  One of the reasons the firm has always succeeded in defending its clients’ IP rights in court is due to its ability to present a narrow defense throughout the application and review process.  Another reason is its close affiliation to Israel’s Patent Registrar and intimate understanding of the process.

 

Outside of Israel the firm’s clients include multinationals that depend on the firm to steward their activities in the local market.  As an example, Dr. Bressler notes a client relationship with a European multinational based in France, working with the firm to prepare and register its global patents in the local market in the dynamic area of electro-optics.

Dr. Bressler notes why foreign firms have been entering the Israel market in droves, not least due to the Israeli tech incubator model.  That model has been very successful in the local market and reproduced around the world.  Among other benefits, start-ups nurtured under the incubator model offer enormous export potential and serve as a source of innovation and economic growth to the economy.  Dr. Bressler was formerly CEO of Incutech, Ltd., a venture capital fund which invests in Israeli start-ups in the field of biotechnology, chemistry, computers and new materials.
